About me
"Whether I'm standing on a windswept beach, beside a quiet lake, or high in New Zealand's mountains, I'm always looking for those moments when everything just comes together. The clouds shift, the light breaks through, and for a few seconds the landscape seems to come alive. Photography has taught me to slow down. To be patient. To watch the weather, follow the light, and appreciate the small details that most people rush past.
What I'm trying to capture isn't just a view. It's a feeling. A moment that catches your attention and stays with you long after you've left. The more time I spend outdoors, the more I realise that nature belongs to no one and connects us all.
Māori have long understood the importance of respecting and caring for the whenua, and that's something I've come to appreciate deeply. Whether it's a mountain, a river, a forest or the sea, these places remind us that we're all part of something much bigger than ourselves. Through my photography, I hope to share that connection. The wildness of the coast, the stillness of the mountains, the drama of a stormy sky, or the peace that comes with first light at dawn. Every photograph is an invitation to pause for a moment, take a breath, and look a little closer.
I don't photograph New Zealand simply to show people what it looks like. I photograph it because of how it makes me feel. Because every now and then, when the light is right and the world goes quiet, you're reminded just how extraordinary this place really is. The mountains were here long before us. The rivers will continue to flow long after we're gone. We're only passing through.
I feel incredibly fortunate to witness these moments and preserve them through my camera. If my photographs do anything, I hope they encourage people to slow down, spend time in nature, and develop a deeper appreciation for this remarkable country and the natural world we all share.
